Fourth of July

We went to St. Johns this year for the Fourth of July and had a FABULOUS time! The weather was perfect and the company was even better. Carter, especially, loves going to Aunt Kimmie's so that he can play with Trace and Cody. They had army bases all over the house. We also enjoyed swimming, picnics, parks, slip 'n slide, cards, and fireworks. Isaac went off the high dive for the first time. He was TERRIFIED up there! He almost shook himself off the end he was so scared. However, after bribery of a couple of dollars and some candy, he finally found the courage within. After that, he went over and over again. He loved it! We couldn't quite coax Carter off the low dive, but that's okay. Next time!

Part of the Fourth of July festivities were a town BBQ, featuring races at the end. All of the kids did well, but I loved their pre-race concentration more than the race itself. FOCUS!

That night we hit the fireworks. It was actually a pretty good show. Who knows what to expect out of St. Johns! :) Everyone had a great time but Ashlyn. She spent the evening hiding under blankets in the back of the van, whimpering every time a firework went off. Probably not the best night of her life. Maybe next year...

We had to head home the next day after church despite the tears, beggings and pleadings. We all had a great time. Thank you, Herrings!
